The Lake Gregory Yacht Club is hosting the last race of the 2018 Midwinter Regatta May 19th as the weather in the mountains is more conducive to model boat racing. When this race finishes we expect to have hosted over 600 skippers in over 100 classes at over 25 yacht clubs from Morro Bay in the north to San Diego in the south and east into Nevada.

SCYA thanks the 3000+ skippers, crews, race committee members and support personnel for making this event a success. We also thank the many sponsors/advertisers that made the event possible through their support. This was a learning year for the race committee this is the first time we did primarily electronic advertising and the registrations were handled for the most part through Regatta Network in an effort to simplify things for the host clubs. It did not always turn out that way but we got though it working with the clubs as a team.

The race committee is already working on the 90th annual running of the SCYA Midwinter Regatta. The regatta is planned to be held over 2 weekends February 9th / 10th and February 16th / 17th. We recognize that the weather conditions are not ideal in some regions and that there are conflicts with other regattas so we will be open to alternative dates. Our goal is to make the event as covenant and fun as possible for the sailors and host clubs. So, if you have a preference on dates or other suggestions let us or the host club know.
We look forward to again seeing you out in the water and thank you for your participation.
