The 89th annual running of the SCYA Midwinter Regatta was viewed as a huge success for the Host Clubs, the Sponsors, SCYA and of course the sailors that participated. The host clubs were given an opportunity to chose dates that worked well for their classes and their weather conditions. This is a process that will be continued in 2019. We added 2 new racing venues with the addition of Morrow Bay YC and Nevada YC and look to add more next year. Welcome!

All types of boats and sailors were represented. The remote-control fleets continued to grow with over 40 boats taking part. With different dates and venues, the RC skippers were able to race at several locations. We are also very proud to have disabled sailors skippering boats out of the Coronado YC. If you wanted to view some of the top competitive sailors in the world SDYC was the place to be, as they hosted the TP52 Class. New to the event was also the “Open Bic“ class out of MBYC with 27 boats represented. WYC had a successful run with record of 18 boats entering. This is the first year the RS Terra class was represented and we look forward to their participation at more venues in the years to come.

SCYA thanks all the host clubs that were a part of making the event a success. Thanks, for your pre and post event hospitality. We also thank all the Race Committee members that volunteered their time to run fair and fun races. We estimated over 3,000 people were involved in to event.

The 89-year tradition of this regatta would not have been possible without the help of those businesses that supported the event and SCYA. We look forward to your continued support over the years and urge our readers to explore the products and services you provide in return.
